Rock N' Run

So I've been running for a little over a week after taking a one year hiatus from running. Today, in the rain, I ran 3.75, non-stop. For being 35, and looking like a two-pronged, walking corn-dog I think I'm doing pretty swell.

Yeah, the eighties have been on my mind today, along with a little humor. One word of advice that has helped me to keep running is picturing things through a different lense. What I mean by this is that I try and picture an instance in a different context, that will make it more palpable. Sometimes to get your kids to eat their broccoli off their plate you have to dress it up and make it look pretty and convince them it really doesn't taste that bad and give them a picture of the good things it will do for their body; either that or you might lie to them and tell them it came from fairy-land or something like that (but that's just wrong!).

Today for instance as I'm running and feeling like a lame, fat, soaking-wet duck, I had to picture myself as an athlete, I thought of Rocky. As soon as I put on my hood from my LBCC hoodie and pulled the strings tight I thought, "man this is what Rocky must have felt like." I hear the music, I smell the air, and then I begin to laugh. You got to love reality, it's never like the movies. I'm soaking wet, I'm tired, my side is starting to hurt and the illusion vanishes, but I still have laughter and laughter helps me to keep on going.

So maybe you can't find anything to really tie to reality, you can still find ways to laugh, when reality fails

Keep running....forever!
